Pros for songwriters and poets borrowing older works to create modern versions of them are; PROS: when you remix a song that was popular, if that song was popular back then, then you might get more views and tapes sold. CONS: If the listener listens to what you remixed they might not like the song and compare it to what the song used to be, weather or not the song was good or not.
