To find out the number used in the scientific notation, move the decimal point to where there is one number on the left, giving us 8.88. From then, count the amount of times the decimal moved, which is 8, and there's your scientific notation

In scientific notation, what we do is we break up a number leaving only numbers that are more than 0, and multiply that value by a power of 10 to represent the 0's that where there before.

In this case, we got only 888 (numbers higher than 0) and transformed it to 8.88. After that we transformed all the 0's into a power of ten, which would be [tex] 10^{8}  [/tex] (1,000,000).
