Cellular organelles are the internal organs of a cell. They are responsible for keeping the cell alive. They do this by bringing in food for the cell, getting rid of waste, protecting and repairing the cell, and helping it grow/reproduce.

Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells contain many membrane-bounded structures in them that are assigned to perform specialized functions for the normal activity of the cells. These structures are called organelles.

The eukaryotic cell contains many organelles like endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum), ribosomes, Golgi apparatus and the most important, the nucleus.
