A 20N fish is hung from two spring scales. What would each spring scale read if the fish was hung from the spring scales and they were connected end to end

Here two spring balance are connected end to end

So we can say that here it is series combination

So force on each spring will be same as spring is to be considered as ideal spring

So here each spring is balanced with same force

For force balance we can say that force of gravity is counter balanced by spring force

[tex]F_g = F_s[/tex]

[tex]F_s = 20 N[/tex]

so here since each spring is balanced by same force

so reading of each spring will be same and it is equal to 20 N

reading of spring balance 1 = 20 N

reading of spring balance 2 = 20 N
