Taylor used the everyday image of a spinning wheel as a metaphor to describe how God transformed his life. What image or images do you think you could use to describe God's transformation of a Christian's life? Think of an ordinary, everyday thing that would serve as a metaphor as Taylor's spinning wheel did. List the item and explain your metaphor. If you would like, you could create your own poem using the image or images you chose.

Silver being polished. Silver always has the potential to be shiny and beautiful, but this is somewhat obscured when it is not regularly polished. This can be seen as a metaphor for a righteous soul. Constant prayer and adherence to Christian tradition is the way in which a soul becomes "polished" or clean, and the potential for goodness that humans have can shine through.

A river flowing through a field. The water a river carries can be seen as the teachings of Christian religion. When the river waters the field, which is the human soul, the most beautiful things grow. The beautiful things that grow in the field are flowers and crops. The things that grow in the soul are good sentiments and thoughts.
