I couldn’t remember how to solve this problem, so I just took a guess based off of similar problems. I believe it is wrong because when you add up my two answers for EF and FG (to the right. 15 and 18) it obviously doesn’t equal 12 like EG is supposed to. Could someone tell me either what I might have done wrong, or if I just completely did everything wrong? I thought maybe if I solved for X and then plugged that in it would give me the answers, so that’s what I tried to do.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given - EG=12

EF=2x-3

FG = x+6

Solution-

We know that EG= EF+FG

putting given values

12= 2x-3 +x+6

3x+3=12

3x=9

x =3

EF=2x-3 = 2×3-3 = 3

FG = x+6 = 3+6 = 9
