Respuesta :

Traction, Friction

Traction is the tangential force transmitted in between the intersurface between two surfaces. The dry friction created at the intersurface is significant in enabling the motion of an object, such as a car, on land.

Friction is the resistance to relative motions of an object. Friction is a force that acts on surfaces grinding against each other.

Explanation:

In this case, the blades reduce the surface area in which the force/weight of the sled acts on the ground hence increasing tractive force

Friction force, in this case, is occurring between the ground snow and the blades of the sledge. Due to the resistance, the kinetic energy of the sledge is converted into thermal energy hence reducing the ideal speed of the sledge. This is why Ted uses more energy in pulling the sled to achieve desired velocity hence sled feeling heavier.

Nonetheless, the blades are supposed to make the pulling easier because the dry friction at the intersurfaces melts the snow to water that acts as lubricant.
