Appellate Jurisdiction as provided in the Article III of the Constitution grants the Supreme Court the power to review and hear appeals from the lower courts through the order of an appellate court.
Appellate jurisdiction also includes Supreme Court's power to overturn or modify the interpretations and decisions made by other lower courts in the United States.
The appeals are usually brought before the Supreme Court through the writ of certiorari.
