The harsh conditions imposed by the treaty of Versailles after World War I helped lay the groundwork for Hitler's coming-to-power, eventually leading to WWII.
As a result of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany felt cheated by the world and by their newly formed democratic government, the Weimar Republic. Because the treaty caused terrible anguish in Germany, with an economic depression, record-breaking inflation, and widespread unemployment, the German people were looking for a solution. Hitler took advantage of the suffering, using the promise of better employment, deflation, and more lebensraum, or living space, to entice the German people and president into supporting him.
Ultimately, Hitler's coming-to-power led to WWII as a result of his imperialistic take overs of other nations, changing the course of world history forever.
