Underline the Prepositional phrase in circle the word modifies. Does the prepostional phrase function as an adjective or an adverb?

Arteries carry blood away from the heart.

[instead of underlining and circling, you can just say the part of the sentence like, This is an example, so uhh yeah thanks for helping (underline) this would be the sentence continuing, and the underline part is just telling me to underline the first part (circle).]

thanks!! :)

Respuesta :

I can just underline for you :)

Arteries carry blood away from the heart.

The underlined phrase is a prepositional phrase that acts as the adverb.

This is because the phrase underlined has described the verb or the action (carry) in the sentence. It would indicate where the blood is getting carried from.

It's not an adjective because it does not describe the nouns, blood and arteries.
