A monarchy is similar to a dictatorship, except that-
O Monarchies always have a constitution which guides the government.
O Dictatorships always have benevolent rulers who are kind to their people.
O Dictatorship has multiple rulers.
O Monarchies have a hereditary system which determines the successor.

If we compare the monarchies and the dictatorships, we will notice that there are numerous similarities among them. This should not come as a surprise since in both cases there is a single ruler that is above the law which more often than not leads to cruelty and mistreatment of the people. The societies tend to be with high disparity when it comes to opportunities and wealth, and in none of them, the people have any say in chosing their leaders.

One thing that sticks out as a difference between the two is that the monarchies have a hereditary system that determines the successor. This basically means that the power is kept within the family. In dictatorships, this can be the case, but more often it isn't. The successor is usually someone that is of high rank and very close to the dictator while having a family member as a successor is relatively rare.
