The delegates who attended the Philadelphia convention, and who came to be known as the framers of the constitution, include many outstanding individuals. Yet, Patrick henry remarked that he "smelt a rat" and refused to attend the convention. To what would you attribute his comment?

-Many of the Framers fought in the Revolution, 46 were members of the Continental Congress or the Congress of the Confederation, 8 served in constitutional conventions in their own States, 7 were State governors, 8 signed the Declaration of Independence

-several of the leaders of the Revolutionary period were not in Philly at the time when Henry said he smelt a rat.

-Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Richard Henry Lee were not selected as delegates

And Thomas Paine was in paris and Thomas Jefferson.
