The Preamble to the United States Constitution explains in general terms what the purpose of the Constitution is. It does so by outlining some of the major principles of the Constitution, including establishing justice, ensuring peace and promoting the welfare of everyone. The Preamble also conveys an important meaning, as it explains what the Founding Fathers' intentions were. Finally, the tone of the Preamble is one of hope and unity. The Preamble achieves this through the use of phrases such as "we the people" and "the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."
