Please help me I do not understand the poem. I do not know how to do it for this homework.Please help me Due today
"In the cold, she hardly had her wits to buzz."
1 She couldn't help but sting my finger,
2 clinging a moment before I flung her
3 to the ground. Her gold is true, not the trick
4 evening light plays on my roses.
5 She curls into herself, stinger twitching.
6 gilt wings folded. Her whole life just a few weeks,
7 and my pain subsided in a moment.
8 In the cold, she hardly had her wits to buzz
9 No warning from either of us:
10 she sleeping in the richness of those petals,
11 then the hand, my hand, cupping the bloom
12 in devastating force, crushing the petals for the scent.
13 And she mortally threatened, wholly unaware
14 that I do this daily, alone with the gold last light,
15 in what seems to me an act of love.

Question --Write a poem about your own encounter with a bee or another animal. Include details that make clear the kind of encounter it was-frightening, awe-inspiring, or comical, for example. You can model your poem after Erdrich's, writing 15 lines of free verse. And like her, you can include lines from the perspective of the animal. After your first draft, evaluate your details to make sure they are precise and replace words that are too general.

What the poem is about - It's about a persons encounter with a bee. They're describing the bee, which seems to be sleeping or dying in the cold. They picked up the bee but it stung them so they let go of it and it fell to the ground. They describe how the bee was like and how they felt at the moment.

The question asks to describe your own interaction with an animal. It doesn't have to be like this poem that they've given but can be based on your own expirences. Such as meeting a dog, seeing a cat, walking by a rat even. They want you to describe the feeling. E.G - If you're scared of rats, write about your feelings when you first saw one. - Why were you scared? Did your feelings change at any point? Did the Rat have the same reaction (of fear) as you? Etc.

The tips they've stated are to help ypu add techniques to the work. I doubt ypu have to absolutely add them, since they're just tips. But adding them could make the writing seem more advanced and complex if used right.
