You wonder how air temperature will affect the air
inside a balloon. You know that when cold air is warmed, it
expands. You have seen hot air balloons in which the air
inside the balloon is heated to make the balloon, basket,
and pilot rise into the air. In science class, you learned that
cold air is denser than hot air.
You blow up a balloon and tie the end. First you place
the balloon in a refrigerator for a while. Then you place the
balloon in direct sunlight for a while.
