What is meant by compensated shock?
- The body is in a low blood volume state during compensated shock, but by speeding up the heartbeat and tightening the blood vessels, it is still able to keep the blood pressure and organs perfusion at a constant level. A fast evaluation of the patient should be done to determine the patient's degree of consciousness, mental state, and vital signs while responding to an emergency when the shock is suspected.
- While the body can maintain blood pressure during compensated shock, it gets increasingly difficult as the shock progresses. The essential organs are no longer kept perfused at this time.
