SOLUTION:

PART A:

We want to find the surface area and volume of the rectangular prism.

The surface area is given by;

[tex]SA=2lb+2lh+2bh[/tex]

Inserting the values, we have;

[tex]\begin{gathered} SA=2(6\times3)+2(6\times4)+2(4\times3) \\ SA=108cm^2 \end{gathered}[/tex]

The volume is;

[tex]V=lbh=6\times4\times3=72cm^3[/tex]

PART B:

We want to find the surface area and volume of the triangular prism.

The surface area is given by the formula;

[tex]2(Base\text{ }area)+(Base\text{ }Perimeter\times height)[/tex]

We have;

[tex]\begin{gathered} SA=2(\frac{1}{2}\times6\times8)+(6+8+10)(7.5) \\ SA=228cm^2 \end{gathered}[/tex]

To calculate the volume;

[tex]\begin{gathered} V=Base\text{ }area\times height \\ V=\frac{1}{2}\times6\times8\times7.5 \\ V=180cm^3 \end{gathered}[/tex]
