Georgia Governor Ellis Arnall is known for leading the state to become the first to allow an 18 year old person the right to vote.
He served from 1943 until 1947. He is still considered to be the most progressive and effective governor of the state of Georgia. In addition to allowing 18 year olds the right to vote, he also paid of a debt of 36 million dollars while in office. After leaving the Governor's office, he was a successful attorney and businessman in Atlanta, Georgia.
