After the WWII many of the powerful countries took preventative actions. They used things such as treaties, war regulations and restrictions. This was worked as there have not been any world wars after.

The U.S. and other world powers initiated many programs and treaties that would help in preventing war-like situations after WWII.

The nations collaborated and organized various institutions that would look upon the conflicts and security between member nations and take actions to reduce them. The institutions put restrictions and describe guidelines that members of the nation must abide by for a peaceful world.  

The power nations indulged into trade treaties for ensuring all nations may get benefits from each others' resources and capabilities.
