The hard life in the Great Plains of the United States was of a slow development, during hundreds of years hardly and were populated, until after the Civil War, the Great Plains were totally conquered. Life was hard, it was based on agriculture, while families were very close to each other, religious customs, each farm separated from each other, which favored self-sufficiency. The Indians preyed on buffalo herds for more than two centuries, but in 1870 the buffalo ended and the cattle took their place, and the cowboys colonized the prairies, whose geography made possible the raising of cattle: the Wild West that we know born in those prairies; and also there arise the typical cowboys, which we know today. More than a century ago, farmers joined with ranchers, and Great Plains became sowing fields now supplanted livestock.
