I believe that it is the seeds deep inside the flower. They both produce cells by the meiosis.

Gametes are the sex cells of an organism. The apple flower has both the male and female parts present on it. This makes apple a hermaphrodite. It can both reproduce by cross-pollination and self-pollination. The male and the female gamete are produced in the flowers of the apple tree by the process of meiosis. The male gametes are the pollen grains produced by the anther of the flower. The female gametes are the ovules produced by the ovary located at the stem of the flower.
