It plays an important part in the development of embryos, and it is important for the growth and development of our bodies as well. Mitosisproduces new cells, and replaces cells that are old, lost or damaged. In mitosis a cell divides to form two identical daughter cells.
Mitosis is the simple duplication of a cell and all of its parts. It duplicates its DNA and the two new cells (daughter cells) have the same pieces and genetic code. Two identical copies come from one original. Start with one; get two that are the same.
