Yes. It's approximately the same, but not exactly.

The weight of an object 7 miles above the Earth's surface (the gravitational force on it) is about 0.35% less than it is down on the surface.

→The value of Earth gravitational pull that is acceleration due to gravity on the surface of earth is 9.8 m/s.

→The value of earth gravitational pull , 7 miles above earth is not exactly same , as distance of an object  from earth surface increases, the value of gravitational pull that is acceleration due to gravity decreases.

→→→This can be explained by the Principle of inverse Square Law,which states that ,force between two objects is directly proportional to product of their masses and inversely proportional to square of distance between them.As, Gravitation pull between an object on the plane and an object 7 miles above the earth surface decreases by a value of [tex]\frac{1}{49}.[/tex] as Distance between two objects = 7 miles
