The use of phrases, fragments, and punctuation can affect the pace and mood of a text. How would you describe the pace of the following passage? "For the most wild, yet most homely narrative which I am about to pen, I neither expect nor solicit belief. Mad indeed would I be to expect it, in a case where my very senses reject their own evidence." Fast Slow Both fast and slow Average

Respuesta :

I think that it has an average to slow pace, though i'm leaning more towards average.

The answer is the second option, "SLOW".

The pace of a text is the speed of the story, it is not the speed of what the story takes place but it is the speed at which the story is told. As you mention in the question, there are some things that can affect the pace and mood of a text such as phrases, fragments, punctuation, the length of the scenes, among other things.

In this particular case, it is evident how punctuation affects the pace of the text because the sentences are long with a lot of commas that are slowing the speed of the text.
