We assume Jill's full-time work week is 40 hours, so that any hours in excess of that are overtime.

There are a couple of ways to think about overtime pay.
1) Figure the number of overtime hours, and multiply that number by 1.5 times the base pay. (OT pay) = (OT hours)*(1.5*(base pay))

2) Figure the number of overtime hours, and multiply that number by 1.5, then by the base pay. (OT pay) = ((OT hours)*1.5)*(base pay)

You can see the product is the same, only the sequence of computation is changed.

Then Jill's gross earnings can be computed as ...
  (40 h +(6 h)*1.5)*(base pay)
  (49 h)*($18.59/h) = $910.91

Jill's gross earnings for 46 hours' work will be $910.91.
