2/6 - 1/2

The first thing you would want to do is have a common denominator. 6 can not be turned to 2, but 2 can be turned to six. In order to make 1/2 have a denominator of 6, you have to multiply the denominator by 3, but you have to remember. WHAT EVER YOU DO TO THE DENOMINATOR, YOU MUST DO TO THE NUMERATOR.
So, when you do that, it turns to

2/6-3/6

From there, you'd focus on the numerator (2-3)
Once you do that, you get

2/6-3/6 = -1/6
-1/6 because like 1-2, it would be -1. Since 2/6 is not a whole number, then it would be somewhere between 0 and -1.
