PLEASE HELP ASAP WILL GIVE BRAINLIST!!!!!!
At the Wagon Wheels of Chance, each student can spin two wheels of chance. The first wheel has the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. The second wheel has the letters W and A. (a) Make a tree diagram that charts all the possible outcomes of the compound event and their probabilities (b) If you spin both wheels, what is the probability that you get either a 2 or an A? Explain.

Respuesta :

Part a)
There are 4 outcomes on spinning the first wheel and 2 outcomes on spinning the second wheel. So the tree diagram will have 4 nodes at the start and each of these 4 nodes will be further divided into 2 nodes. First 4 nodes show the possible outcomes on spinning of first wheel and next nodes show for every possible outcome on spinning of first wheel there can be 2 possible outcomes of the second wheel. The tree diagram is attached below:

Part b)
Total possible outcomes of first wheel = 4
Favorable outcome is getting a 2. So number of Favorable outcome = 1
Thus, probability of getting a 2 = 1/4 = 0.25

Total possible outcomes of second wheel = 2
Probability of getting an A = 1/2 = 0.5

The probability of getting either a 2 or an A = Sum of the both individual probabilities

So,
If you spin both wheels the probability that you get either a 2 or an A = 0.75
