During a rainstorm Willow received 7/16 inch of rain, Summerset received 1/2 inch of rain, Clarkdale received 3/4 inch of rain, and Riverton received 5/8 inch of rain. Which community received the most rain?

Clarkdale received the most amount of rain.

You have to make all the denominators the same so you multiply by the number which will give you 16 for a denominator as a result.

That's one way of solving it, but the key here is to covert all the denominators into the same number so you would be able to compare.
