Not true at all. There were a lot of brilliant women poets in the Beat Generation. Diane di Prima is probably the most famous, but Carol Bergé, Janine Pommy Vega, and Barbara Moraff were all important members of that generation. Plus, a number of other women writers who wrote in genres other than poetry were highly influential in the Beat Generation. And even though the Beat movement was dominated by men, many of those men were gay at a time when being gay was often illegal, a fact that upends the perspective that the Beat Generation was just a regular anti-woman boys' club.
