The scale on a map shows 5 Centimeters = 2 Kilometers. What number of centimeters on the map represents an actual distance of 5 kilometers?

Since there are 5 centimeters in 2 kilometers Multiply both sides by 2 and you get 10 centimeters = 4 kilometers. Since you need one more take half of 5 (2.5) and add it to the 10 giving you 12.5 centimeters in 5 kilometers. :)
