The Arab takes advantage of Santiago's naivety and robs him. He weeps because he feels like his dream is farther away than ever and he was betrayed by someone he trusted. He feels vulnerable.

Hope this helps!

This question refers to the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

In this section of the story, Santiago meets a young Spanish-speaking Arab at a bar. Santiago explains how he has to get to the pyramids, and that he needs a guide to do so. The young man offers to help him, and takes him to the market. Santiago gives the man money so that he can buy the camels necessary for the trip.

However, after Santiago gets distracted, he realizes that the young man has disappeared with all his money. The realization that he has been robbed and will not be able to continue his journey makes Santiago weep.
