In Night, when Wiesel arrives at Birkenau, the reception center for Auschwitz, what inspires terror among the Jews? They encounter people of other religions who are also being persecuted. They see, for the first time, the flames of the crematoria. They see that the camp is surrounded by electrified wire. They see Dr. Mengele deciding who will live and who will die.

Respuesta :

The correct answer is B.

When Elie Wiesel and his father arrived at Birkenau, they encountered for the first time the crematoria.

Upon arrival, another prisoner pointed to the flames and explained that in Auschwitz people were being cremated, and that they would probably share the same destiny.

Officers were splitting people into two lines and those that were sent to the left were due to the crematorium. Both Elie and his father where sent to the left and, as they walked, they saw two pits burning with large flames, one was for babies and children, and the other one was for adults.

At the last minute, Elie and his father were sent to the line on the right, and were spared from the fire, but Wiesel explained that this image has never truly left him.
