There are two important elements to cause work

1) Force

2) Distance that is covered

Explanation:

If we scientifically talk about work,it is very different than what it is in simple form i.e the fulfillment of any task activity etc. Work is scientifically performed only when there is a force applied to do an activity in such a way that it covers some displacement or distance. It is not important that the direction of force and displacement are same, they can be different as well.

For example, we push the chair from point A to point B (30 metres) with a force of 30 N. So the amount of work done will be:

                            work done = force x distance.

                             work done = 30 x 30

                            work done = 900 joules

So, Force and distance/displacement are two important elements to cause work.
