To solve an equation or inequality, you need to isolate the variable you re trying to solve for on one side of the inequality/equation and ita value on the other side.

in -2x > -8
we can isolate x by dividing both sides by -2x so x is by itself

-2/-2 x = -8/-2
A number divided by itself is always 1, so it crossouts abd only leaves 1x ir just x
x = -4
