The length of a rectangle is 2 inches more than twice it’s width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 70 inches,find it’s length and width

Respuesta :

let's assume width of a rectangle= a inches
than length of the rectangle = 2*a + 2
= 2a+ 2 inches
perimeter of the rectangle. = 70 inches

perimeter (P) = 2(length+ width)
after substituting value of l and w we have
p = 2(l+w)
70= 2( 2a+2+ a)
70= 2(3a+2)
70= 6a+4
70 - 4= 6a
66= 6a, a= 66/6= 11
so a=11 inches, a= width
therefore width is = 11 inches
length is = 11*2+2= 24 inches
