The word deceive means to cause someone to believe something that isn't really true to give yourself a better reputation of you, and that is another way of lying to someone. DECEIVING = LYING, deceiving is just another word for lying. People can deceive in many ways, like telling someone something incredible that "happened" in their life, when it really didn't happen. For example, I could tell someone that traveled to 3 states, even though I really didn't, and they would believe me, that would be deceiving. Everyone has deceived in some time of their life, and it's really easy to deceive than actually saying true things, deceiving just make people feel better.
