The third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, crashed into the Pentagon (U.S. Department of Defense headquarters) in Arlington County, Virginia, which caused the partial collapse of the west side of the building.

The fourth aircraft, United Airlines Flight 93, was originally flown to Washington, D.C., but crashed into a field in Stonycreek Township near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after its passengers thwarted the hijackers. 9/11 was the single most deadly terrorist attack in human history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement in US history, with 343 and 72 killed respectively.
