‘The author presents Damon as a friend willing to risk his life for Pythias, but he backs out of his promise’ for me this have more impact of surprise than the other choices because betrayal of a character that we thought we are sure of really delivers a lot more emotions.

However, the first choice can also be a possible answer; though it can be more expected since we can easily see the probabilities for it to occur.
