When you think about it, it makes more sense to have eggs delivered by birds (who do have eggs) than by a bunny (who don't have eggs).  Right?

Cuckoos are very present in the culture of Switzerland, that's why the cuckoo clock originated in that area.  We're not sure where it started from, but it's a staple cultural item in Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
