You run

[tex]4 \ \frac{3}{4} [/tex]
through a park each day. If you ran that distance 5 times last week,
how many miles did you run?

Answer:

23×3/4.......................

1.) You could do this by adding 4 3/4 to itself five  times and get the answer but it is easier to multiply , which is what we do when we want to repeatedly add.

5 * 4  3/4  change 4  3/4 to 19/4.  Multiply 19 by 5, divide the result by 4 and you will get the answer.

2.)5(4 3/4) = 5(4) + 5(3/4)

Logic says this will be around 23  to 24 since

5(4) = 20 and 5(1/2) = 2 1/2 so it must be a bit

more than 22 1/2 At a simple guess

the only choice that makes sense is 23 3/4 ...

5(4 3/4) = 5(19/4) = 95/4 = 23 3/4

Keep Working!!! =)
