The law of twelve tables was the foundation of Roman law, it contained the tradition into set of laws and contained the rights and duties of Roman citizen. It was created due to the agitation of Plebeians who were excluded from the benefits of republic.

The twelve tables were the foundation of ancient Roman Law and provided a premature understanding of justice,equality and punishment. They also influenced the formation of early american legal system. James Madison considered it to be important for the drafting of US Bill of Rights.
