To draw this diagram I used a graphic scale, this kind of scale contains a linear bar which is divided into uniform grids along the length. Each grid represents same distance as represented on the scale.

To make measurements you need to measure the the length of an object or distance between 2 points compared against the scale, depending on the value arrived from the bar, the actual ground distance is derived.

I also added a compass rose (also known as windrose or Rose of the Winds) to display the orientation of the cardinal directions (north, east, south, and west).
