I need help please!! Please do not add an answer just for points, thank you!!

I choose the 2 companies;
Yellow Cab NYC Taxi; $3.00 to the MTA || Base fare + $2.50 for 25 units

Cargo Taxi; $40 per hour + 50 cents per 1/5 mile. I think, this is a bit difficult. ;--;

Cab companies often charge a flat fee for picking someone up and then charge an additional fee per mile driven. Pick a U.S. city and research the rates of two different cab companies in that city. Find companies that charge different amounts per mile and have different flat fees. If you have trouble finding this information for two companies, you can make up what you think would be reasonable prices for a cab's flat rate and a cab's rate per mile.

Task 1

a. For the first company, express in words the amount the cab company charges per ride and per mile.

b. Write an equation in slope-intercept, point-slope, or standard form. Explain why you chose the form you did.

c. What do the slope and y-intercept mean in the context of this problem? Hint: What do you pay when you step into the cab?

Respuesta :

let us assume that the first company the cab flat rate is 5$ and the cap driver charges 2$ per mile .for the second company the cab flat rate is 3$ and the cab driver charges 3$ per mile.

a. the company charges per ride at least 5$ and an extra 2$ per mile

b.the equation we will choose is slope intercept since we know the

y-intercept which is the cab flat rate .

y=mx+b

where

m :is the slope

b:is the y-intercept

y:total amount

x. is the milage

total amount=2x+5.

c.the slope will be 2$ which is the change in amount per mile.the y-intercept will be the cab's flat rate.
