A line passes through (2,-1) and had a slope of 5/2. Write an equation in slope-intercept form for this line.

Respuesta :

  • one point on the line (2,-1)
  • the slope is 5/2

First of all, remember what the equation of a line is: y = mx+b

Since 5/2 is the slope, so far we have y=5/2+b

To find b, think about what your (x,y) point means: (2,-1). When x of the line is 2, y of the line must be -1.

(2,-1). y=mx+b or -1=5/2 × 2+b, or solving for b: b=-1-(5/2)(2). b=-6.

So your answer is y=5/2x-6

Hope this helps, have a BLESSED and wonderful day, as well as a safe day! -Cutiepatutie
