The expulsion of Moriscos was ordered by King Philip third  of Spain on April 9, 1609. the Moriscos had converted to Christianity during 16th century, they were descendants of the Spanish Muslims. As the Spanish were fighting wars in Americas they were afraid of the Turks and also of the Morisco revolts, after the revolts Islam was banned in Spain.  Between 1609 and 1614 decrees were issued for the expulsion of the Moriscos. The expelled Muslims settled on the Barbary coast.
