Rosa Parks was very influential and a huge part in getting equality among whites and blacks. Before her "fame", she was known for fighting for equality with her husband, and going out of her way to try to get equality. In December of 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white person, which was illegal at the time and never really seen before. She ended up getting arrested, but this was just the beginning of it all. This started the Montgomery Bus Boycott, where black citizens, even some white citizens who also wanted equality, did not take the bus. This greatly hurt the bus companies throughout Montgomery, Alabama, and it ended up working as black people could now sit wherever they wanted on buses.
