What Is Tort Law?

Tort law focuses on dealing with civil suits. Every clam from civil suit is dealt with except contractual disputes which falls under contract law. It refers to a wrong commited on a person and helps to bring a relief to that wronged person by granting that wronged individual with compensation as long as there is proof that the person was wronged or harmed.

The person who commited the wrong has to pay for the harm they did to the otger person , considered harms under this law are lost of income,medical expenses when someone was injured , and payment for pain and suffering.

Tort law is broken into three categories: negligent torts, intentional tort and strict liability torts.

Negligent torts deals with harm that is commited because an individual (defendant) didn't take proper care which is considered a reasonable standard of care. Accidents falls under this torts.

Intentional torts, this is when someone on knowingly hark another person such as assault,theft and fraud.

Strict liability torts, it focuses on a particular act such as a company that produces defective products that company will be responsible for the damage even if they exercised reasonable care or they had no bad intention.
