The second side of a triangular deck is 5 feet longer than the shortest side and a third side that is 5 feet shorter than twice the length of the shortest side. if the perimeter of the deck is 52 feet, what are the lengths of the three sides?

Respuesta :

Lengths of three sides are: 13ft, 18ft and 21ft.

Explanation:

Let shorted side = y

so,

second side = y + 5

Third side = 2(y) - 5

Parameter of triangle = 1st side length + 2nd side length + 3rd side length

52 =  y + y+5 + 2y-5

52= 4y

y = 52/4 = 13 ft

So putting y in all three lengths we will get,

shortest side = 13 ft.

second side = 18 ft

Third side = 21 ft.
