You notice in your culturally diverse classroom that there are some underlying prejudices among certain students. How can you reduce these prejudices to create a culturally accepting environment?

Respuesta :

Answer: Talk about race as a social construct

Explanation:

In the world we live in today it is normal to find people from different nationals in places other than their country of origin. Globalization and the growth of economies have allowed many people to spread and seek new horizons. We are getting closer to other places without having to travel to them because of people.

Cultural diversity helps grow and understand the history of others. Many people understand this, but others do not, and this is the case when there are students of other nationalities in the classroom. A person from another culture may or may not feel accepted in the place that is due to the comments that other people make about their origin. Prejudices are very established. Some people have to judge a person from another source due to any fact of history and that person tends to hurt.

Sometimes in the classroom, there may be children who make others feel that they are from another culture and many times they do it unconsciously, that is, they do them because of what other people have heard say about people who belong to a particular culture.

We must understand that there are social constructs and these are not bad, they allow us to define meanings or connotations that people assign to certain objects or events. They were created to facilitate interpersonal relationships and the environment. In the case of the situation of prejudice that occurs in the classroom, it is important to explain to students about cultural diversity and its benefits and that they learn about race as a social construct so that they can have a broader vision and learn to accept people regardless of their origin or race.
