manifest destiny was the american ideology that it was her duty to go out west and claim more land, and the pioneers ought to continue going out west for more oppertunities. it was in a way used as propaganda to get people to leave their comfortable lives in order to explore new lands for the USA to add to its borders. 

Manifest Destiny is a term for the attitude prevalent during the 19th century period of American expansion that the United States not only could, but was destined to, stretch from coast to coast. This attitude helped fuel western settlement, Native American removal and war with Mexico.
